In this set of slice-of-life shorts, filmmakers explore unexpected connections forged in public spaces, whether it be grocery stories (Hold Up, Fresh Peaches, Three Fish), empty streets (Malabar), alleyways (Trading-Card Season), or doorways (Moving Mountains). As characters navigate relationships across cultural divides and interpersonal misunderstandings, they also come to a more empathetic understanding of others and themselves.

At night as they return home to the suburbs, Mourad and Harrison accidentally bump into Marcel, an old man of Vietnamese origin.
