In this free screening intended for high school students (but also free for all other viewers), each of these seven films explore what it means to be oneself despite societal, familial, and personal challenges. All I Ever Wanted considers dreams of romance and how reality might offer unexpected opportunities. Exposed and Mom both explore the importance of speaking up, no matter how difficult. Taste of Home grapples with the choice between freedom and family. Connecting these films together is the question of how one can be true to themselves. Through a variety of topics including bullying, romance, art, tradition, and self-acceptance, these films consider the various ways in which we come of age.

While growing up, Lily and her family celebrate Tet by going to the festival every year. As the years progress, her mom and dad become more cold and distant to each other until they get a divorce. Lily and her mom move to a new apartment and adjust to their new lifestyle. Lily signs up to perform at her school’s Tet Festival and wants her mom to come, but her mom is too caught up in the new responsibilities of being a single working mother. Lily goes to the festival alone and performs. In the middle of her performance she sees her mom in the aisle and they make new memories together at the Tet festival.
