Three young Cuban baseball players, Happy, Carlos, and Victor have spent the past year training long and hard, thousands of miles away from their families in Cuba, with the hopes of making it to the Major Leagues. As the months advance with no MLB offers, the player’s agent, Gus Dominguez, decides he can’t afford the expense of supporting Happy and cuts him from the team. As mistrust brews between the remaining players and Dominguez, a brutal reality faces them: continue with their agent or take the dangerous migrant trail to the United States. Told with rawness and urgency, this documentary reveals the very human story of people caught between countries who want nothing more than a better life for their families.

Discussion with directors Sami Khan and Michael Gassert, moderated by Tim Wendel (Johns Hopkins University), with introduction by VAFF Board member John Harris to follow.
