The 80-minute feature documentary follows veteran actor Sharon Washington as she sets out to write a play about her fairy tale childhood living in a custodian apartment inside a New York City public library. Through the writing process she’s forced to reconcile this magical tale with her own reality, the nuanced story of a young African American girl getting along in the world, and suddenly finds herself facing demons she thought she'd exorcised decades ago.
"The film is highly recommended for those teaching or studying the performing arts, particularly acting and playwriting. Those interested in animation and illustration may also benefit from studying the film’s application of animation in its storytelling."

“...a courageous and insightful retelling of Sharon Washington's journey as an artist in her own words."
Dr. Monica White Ndounou, Associate Professor of Theater, Dartmouth College
"Rarely is one so lucky to have such elegant storytelling behind the scenes of an author and actor's compelling journey. The film, at once raw, honest, and heartfelt, is a remarkable and indispensable companion to the play."
Kirk D. Read, Professor, Bates College
