Mornings are a sacred time of day. Kyle Smaine, an incredibly local athlete who is a world-class freeskier who can also ride a mountain bike like no one else, tears across favorite trails and sections of granite in the Lake Tahoe basin, trying to make mornings count.

Morning

Growing up in Zimbabwe, Robert “Rusty” Bailey knew he would one day climb Mount Everest and accordingly spent years climbing, working with the BBC on climbing documentaries and getting his doctorate in Outdoor education. In 1982, when Everest had only been summit by fewer than 30 people, Rusty jumped at the opportunity to join the first Canadian team to attempt the peak. Rusty left for the expedition with the support of his wife and two daughters, but as when three Sherpas were killed in an avalanche that also buried Rusty, almost killing him, and another team member died two days later, Rusty began to reconsider the cost that he is asking himself and his young family to pay: Was it worth it to risk his life for the potential glory that could await him at the summit, or was Mount Everest just another lump of snow?

Rusty's Ascent

Detroit Hives follows Tim Paule and Nicole Lindsey, a young couple from East Detroit, as they work to bring diversity to the field of beekeeping and create opportunities for young Detroit natives to overcome adversity. Tim and Nicole have been purchasing vacant lots from among the over 90,000 empty housing lots in Detroit, and converting them into bee farms. Detroit Hives explores the importance of bringing diversity to beekeeping and rebuilding inner-city communities one hive at a time.

Red Szell, suffering from a degenerative eye condition, is now blind, but after traveling to Scotland and becoming the first blind climber to reach the top of the iconic sea stacks of the Old Man of Hoy and Old Man of Stoer, only Am Buachaille remains in the trilogy for him to climb. Just reaching the base will involve a triathlon of sorts, with a mountain bike ride, a steep scramble down the mainland cliff, and a swim across the tidal flow to reach the start of the climb. He then has four hours to get up and get off before the tide races in.&nbsp;

Shared Vision

Clair and Darrell Glenn have been skiing Beaver Mountain in Northern Utah for 50 years. The brothers are known for trenching in the "Glen Canyon" under Harry's Dream lift, where they display their prowess in Moguls and in the air. The fountain of youth is apparently located in Logan Canyon, UT.

Time is either spent wisely or it is just spent. This cinematic journey immerses you on a bike, letting you fly through the lush coastal jungles of Oahu, feel the dust from Utah’s otherworldly landscapes, and lose yourself in the untouched mountains of Patagonia. Return to Earth proves that when we lose track of time, we can make the most of it.

The film tells the life story of Roman Romancini, one of the most important Brazilian mountaineers, in his endeavor to reach his greatest dream—climbing Mount Everest—even after being hit by a car nearly put an end to his sport life. Directed by Rafael Duarte (Bambalaio Filmes) and produced by Leonardo Edde (URCA Filmes), Beyond Dreams shows how Roman dealt with the chance of never climbing again, how he fought a cancer and how he kept the Everest dream alive as a motivation to overcome the recovery process.
