A Follower of Holy and Godly Matrons
A woman appears and disappears while wearing a variety of bridal veils. The title of the film comes from a sentence in the church wedding service used in the 1960s the artist and filmmaker heard as a child and bridesmaid.
Interval
After being made redundant in the COVID-19 pandemic, journalist Lucy Smickersgill teamed up with textile artist Charlotte Tweedy and learned stop-frame animation. Using felt, they created this optimistic and cheerful micro-short, set to music by Lucy’s daughter, electronic musician Carmel Smickersgill.
Flour & Mush
Emily Wong, a filmmaker from Hong Kong, created this film in 2019 during the pro-democracy protests in her country. This stop-motion animation encapsulates the chaos and conflict of the time within a hopeful love story between a sack of flour and a broken tree trunk.
Love
Oscar, a young autistic man, experiences the world in his own unique way. Every morning he goes into the same cafe, orders the same coffee, and sits at the same table. Every morning he falls a little bit more in love with Daisy, who works in the cafe.
Call Button
Mary is living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and is in respite care. Her daughter, Nicole, clinging to pre-MS memories of her mom, only visits Mary when necessary. Then, in classic body-swap style, they’re forced to spend a day in the other’s shoes. A comedy that looks at some of the tougher aspects of life in our 50s and beyond.
We are here but we are lost
Jayne’s son Bob died suddenly from Dengue Fever while he was backpacking around South East Asia. As part of her grieving process, Jayne retraces Bob’s journey across Vietnam and Thailand, staying in every hostel he slept in, experiencing the sites he saw, and meeting the people he had befriended along the way. A story of grief, motherhood and memorial.

A cup of coffee, a wedding cake, a bag of flour, some Turkish delight and a dish served cold. Souls searching and bodies keeping the score. Always.
