About the Film: In the 1960s, in LA, Madelynn Von Ritz was known as The Lady Barber, cutting hair for the most iconic rockers of the time (Jim Morrison among them). But her dream was to be a famous musician in her own right. Even though she recorded an EP (unreleased for 50 years) and had many brushes with success, she hasn't quite gotten there....yet. At 83, Von Ritz hasn't given up her dream This is a film about hard luck, perseverance, loss and hope. About almosts and nevers and keeping on.


About the Filmmakers: Silas Howard is an award-winning director, writer and producer focused on telling honest,narratives filled with groundbreaking characters. Howard brings both uncompromising vision and emotional insight to each of his projects, profoundly illuminating the experience of those who live outside the norm. His credits include Pose, Dickinson, Transparent, This Is Us, High Maintenance, Tales of the City, A Kid Like Jake and more. He is the recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship and a Peabody award.


Naz Riahi is a writer and director from Iran. Her body of work — films and writing— explore the potentialities of isolation and otherness. Much of her life has been defined by her experience of otherness and search for community. This drives her work, allowing viewers intimate access to the interior of lives and emotions that may otherwise seem lonely, unfulfilled, or unhappy.Nazis the winner of a Vimeo Best of the Year Award and was named one Filmmaker Magazine's “25 New Faces of Independent Film”.
