Finely-crafted narrative and documentary student shorts that exemplify brave and distinctive storytelling.

ABOUT THE FILM:

A recent widow cooks a special meal to distract her adult children from going through their father's belongings. Sancocho is an intimate moment, almost memory-like of a transitional period between mother and children.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:

Colombian Director Kimberly “Kim” Caicedo brings over 10 years of New York advertising and production experience to film. Her work has received accolades from the ARC Awards (2020), Creativity International (2017), The Webby Awards (2016) and received the top honors from Fast Company’s Innovation By Design Awards (2014). After writing and directing several shorts, in 2021 she filmed her first feature The Pines. Her practice focuses on visual communication, through her interest in allegorical rhetoric. Kim’s goal is to make work that is contemporary yet timeless.
