ABOUT THE FILM:Dee spends her idyllic high school days selling sketch artwork with her best friends, Mike and Trey. When their teacher Mrs. Lambert confiscates their money and drawings, she chastises them with a racial slur. Determined to avenge herself and friends, Dee orchestrates a plan to steal Mrs. Lambert’s beloved classroom rabbit, Reeses. She quickly discovers some of her friends have more drastic ideas in mind for revenge, all while confronting an unbeknownst school crush. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:Blanche Enaka is a Cameroonian-American writer, director, musician and actor from Riverdale, GA. She is most passionate about surreal comedic storytelling, centering people in the South, the queer community, and across the African diaspora. She was awarded NewFest’s Emerging Black LGBTQ+ Director Award in 2020. She participated in Gotham’s 2021 TV-Series Lab, and their Project Market, with her series Mercury Afrograde. She starred in Pepi Ginsberg’s film, The Pass, which was an official selection at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. She was a recipient of Newfest and Netflix’s 2022 New Voices Filmmaker Grant.

ABOUT THE FILM:Born with a rare condition requiring over 50 cranial reconstructive surgeries, Corey searches for normalcy, love, and acceptance in a swipe-left, swipe-right world. The film follows Corey’s daily activities to show how his facial difference impacts his life, friendships, family relations, romantic relationships, and careers and how these experiences shape his personality and perspective. In essence, Don’t Look Away explores how his look affects his ability to live “a normal life” and challenges viewers to question who is really missing out – us or them – when we reject those who look different. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:Joseph V. Lingad is a filmmaker and video journalist with over 15 years of experience. Joseph started his career as a camera assistant on TV shows, commercials, and narrative films. He got his break in video journalism and documentaries in 2011 when The Wall Street Journal hired him as a videographer and worked with its sister companies until 2022. He is currently working on a feature documentary exploring the lives of four adults with various facial differences and how their unique looks have shaped them. He hopes to have a final cut by the end of 2025.

ABOUT THE FILM:A mysterious environmental illness is turning teenage girls transgender across New England. At least, that's what their mothers are reading online. Katherine, concerned by her preteen's increasing symptoms, seeks a cure. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER: Andy Fidoten is a filmmaker and ex-punk rocker based in New York City. A Manhattan native, Fidoten creates alternative worlds that are both distinct from and deeply embedded in our own, turning contemporary anxieties around gender and sexuality into cinematic playgrounds filled with humor, fantasy, and horror. Be it through gay werewolves, genderbending insect-borne diseases, or post apocalyptic breakups, Fidoten’s imaginative storytelling enlivens the complexities of queer identity. Some places he has shown work recently include: Film at Lincoln Center, the Museum of Modern Art, the Santa Fe International Film Festival, London Short Film Festival, and Final Girls Berlin.

ABOUT THE FILM:A recent widow cooks a special meal to distract her adult children from going through their father's belongings. Sancocho is an intimate moment, almost memory-like of a transitional period between mother and children. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER:Colombian Director Kimberly “Kim” Caicedo brings over 10 years of New York advertising and production experience to film. Her work has received accolades from the ARC Awards (2020), Creativity International (2017), The Webby Awards (2016) and received the top honors from Fast Company’s Innovation By Design Awards (2014). After writing and directing several shorts, in 2021 she filmed her first feature The Pines. Her practice focuses on visual communication, through her interest in allegorical rhetoric. Kim’s goal is to make work that is contemporary yet timeless.

ABOUT THE FILM:Isabel is ostracized by the fire brigade she belongs to for attacking a real estate development implicated in forest fires. Determined to forge ahead on her own, she faces her loneliness and frustration in an encounter that will question the essence of her fight. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER: María Belén Poncio is a writer, director, and editor from Cordoba, Argentina. She directed and co-wrote the short VR film 4 Feet: Blind Date, supported by the Sundance Institute and the Biennale di Venezia College Cinema VR. She later directed and co-wrote the fictional cross-platform miniseries 4 Feet High, produced by Arte France TV, which premiered in Biennale di Venezia, Sundance, BFI, TIFF Next Wave, and won the Jury and Audience Award in SXSW 2021. She is finishing her MFA in Film at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, with the support of the TSOA and Maurice Kanbar scholarships.
