Synopsis: A character-driven, cinematic tale of deportation, migration, displacement, and opportunistic capitalism, CALL CENTER BLUES follows four characters as they struggle to make sense of their lives in Tijuana. Each with a vastly different story, they are all linked by their displacement and their sole choice of call center work that they have in a country which is so unfamiliar and oftentimes frightening, yet other times a ray of hope. Tijuana becomes their home, a place defined by the border yet defiant towards it, a no man's land where everything and everyone feels transient. These characters paint a picture of love, loss, and longing—&nbsp;for home, for an American Dream deferred, and for justice. Director's Bio: Geeta Gandbhir is a documentary film director and editor who has been nominated for six Emmy Awards, winning four. A community of US deportees struggling to rebuild their lives in Tijuana.

Synopsis: Ninlawan Pinyo is a Thai woman whose quiet success propelled a generation of children to study and live in the United States. She is the tether to an Asian-American family’s maternal culture. The film aims to document the perspective of an empowered woman in Thailand’s increasingly patriarchal society, the beginnings of an immigrant family tree, and a maternal kinship shared by many Asian diasporic communities. Ninlawan Pinyo is the matriarch of a Thai-American family, who hustled for her fortune by founding a naem (pork sausage) factory in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Synopsis: Under Paris' glittering Eiffel Tower, undocumented Senegalese migrants sell miniature souvenirs of the monument to support their families back home. Far from their loved ones and hounded by the police, each day is a struggle through darkness in the City of Lights. Director's Bio: Tal Amiran is a multiple award-winning director and editor based in London, UK. His films have screened at over a hundred festivals including AFI DOCS, Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and Rhode Island International Film Festival, winning Best Documentary Short at several festivals, including Sarasota Film Festival and London Short Film Festival. Amiran is also a lecturer on the Film and Moving Image BA at Norwich University of the Arts, UK.

Dafa Metti (Difficult)

Synopsis: Peyman and his friends are a group of Afghan teenagers on the cusp of adulthood who find themselves stuck in Athens. In limbo but armed with a new-found freedom, they kill time by aimlessly strolling around the city, sharing jokes, rap battles, stories of the past, and dreams of the future. As Peyman awaits for news that could shake his false state of harmony, he looks for answers amongst his friends and family, trying to make sense of the world around him through his music and poetry. Director's Bio: Giorgio Bosisio is a restless, curious and imaginative filmmaker with a special interest in intimate, character-based stories developed within relevant and current socio-political issues.
