Director's Bio: Duravcevic arrived in the US in 1991 as a political asylee from the former Yugoslavia. He has made popcorn in a movie theater, worked as a doorman, been a national chess champion, and managed a successful investment fund. BROOKLYN PARK marks his film-directing debut.

Skumjas

After six years of being in a long distance relationship, Sandra travels to the Middle East to see her girlfriend and ask her the big question.

Synopsis: Dmitry and Zhenya are Russians living on expired visas in New York with their 7-month-old daughter Dasha. Dasha was born in the US and is a citizen. When the baby has an accident one night, Zhenya wants to take her to the hospital, but Dmitry is reluctant, fearing they will be separated from her and deported. Director's Bio: Gleb Osatinski has directed and produced six award-winning short films, which have screened at more than a dozen film festivals around the world. His film THE QUANTIFIED SELF was nominated Best Narrative Short at Woodstock Film Festival, has received a Programmers Award at Sidewalk Film Festival, and Runner UP award at the Boston Underground Film Festival. It was also featured on ARTE TV in France and Germany. His short film CHECKMATE won the REEL13 contest and was aired on PBS. His short film FATHER will have its international premiere at Krakow Film Festival 2020 Short Films competition.

Outsiders

When their 7-month-old daughter has an accident, Dmitry and Zhenya, living in New York on expired visas, face a difficult decision.

Synopsis: Based on true events, THE SHEPHERDS OF CAT ISLAND is a continuous, single take drama that puts individual and collective responsibility under the microscope to examine systematic prejudice and racial tension in the midst of WWII. Soldiers and leaders, dogs and trainers, White and Japanese Americans interpret this hidden but true piece of history, which may help us to navigate among contemporary interpretations of patriotism and basic human rights. Director's Bio: Attila Rostas is a multiple award-winning Hungarian born American writer, director and producer with a strong emphasis on social injustice, human biases and prejudice in his filmmaking body. His short films have screened at dozens of festivals, including Raindance, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Edinburgh, Tehran, Budapest, Eindhoven, Thessaloniki, and Tirana, among many others. While working on the development of his debut feature, Attila currently teaches film production at Mission College in the San Francisco Bay Area.
