Synopsis: Eyewitness to the greatest changes in the polar regions of our planet, seventy-five-year-old lifelong explorer Will Steger has made it his mission to maintain their preservation. Steger, who was part of the last major international expedition in 1989, is determined to go it alone this time -- a thousand mile crossing in seventy five days. The tension, exhilaration and exhaustion are visceral as he relies on his invaluable dog team and buried caches of supplies for his survival. Intercutting footage of the 1989 journey, AFTER ANTARCTICA brings us face to face with a stark, alien landscape, where Steger and his dogs endure forty days of brutal storms. After a lifetime of landmark expeditions across both poles, no one alive has seen more of the polar world, making Steger the ideal guide for us to travel with.
