Encouraged by missionaries to abandon the freedom of their nomadic life in the forest, the Ayoreo now live on government hand-outs at the fringe of Paraguayan society. For forty years Mateo Sobode Chiqueno has collected his people’s stories, preserving the memories of these sun worshippers before their culture is gone. With understated anger and beautifully composed images, this is a moving lament for the Ayoreo’s fall from Eden.

'powerful, enthralling and deeply beautiful' - Business Doc Europe

'a powerful and moving look at the disenfranchised Ayoreo people of Paraguay' - Screen International

'I just want us to reflect about how we approach otherness, how we approach other cultures. Are we really approaching other cultures, other ways of thinking, other ways of life with openness, or are we just trying to impose how we want them to think, how we want them to be?' -  Arami Ullón

Y Swistir/Paraguay, 2020, 1 awr 15 munud, isdeitlau

Wedi'u hannog gan genhadon i gefnu ar ryddid eu bywyd crwydrol yn y goedwig, mae'r Ayoreo bellach yn byw ar arian gan y llywodraeth ar gyrion cymdeithas Paraguay. Am ddeugain mlynedd mae Mateo Sobode Chiqueno wedi casglu straeon ei bobl, gan ddiogelu atgofion yr addolwyr haul hyn cyn i'w diwylliant ddiflannu. Gyda dicter cynnil a delweddau wedi'u cyfansoddi'n hyfryd, mae hwn yn alarnad deimladwy am gwymp yr Ayoreo o Eden.
