11 March 2021 marks the tenth anniversary of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, which led to the Fukushima nuclear meltdown. Following the disaster, Naomi Kawase (Sweet Bean) invited international filmmakers to each make a short film on the meaning of ‘Home’ in response to the disaster. Both a poignant dedication to the victims and a timely reflection on themes of recovery, renewal and the purpose of life.

'I chose 3:11 A Sense of Home as the opening film of 2021’s festival to draw attention to the foolish pro-nuclear policy of the Welsh Government.' - Festival Director, David Gillam
