A conversation with Teresa Martinez from Survival International, Arami Ullon director of NOTHING BUT THE SUN, and, Festival Director David Gillam

Teresa Martínez is an activist and researcher with Survival International, the global movement for tribal peoples. Since 2015, after a personal experience living and working with indigenous and rural communities in the Brazilian and Peruvian Amazon, she has been fighting to defend their human rights.

Her work with Survival is now focused on Latin America and on the campaign for uncontacted peoples’ survival. Currently, among others, she is working with the Ayoreo indigenous people from Paraguay for their land claim.

Arami Ullon is collaborating with Initiativa Amotocodie, an NGO based in Paraguay that worlds for the Ayoreo´s right to self-determination, legal defense, and access to their territory in Paraguay.

Survival is leading the global campaign for uncontacted peoples’ rights since 1969.

For over twenty-five years, Survival has campaigned for the Ayoreo’s land claim, and a part of the land has been protected.
