This year WRIF is excited to present two visually stunning, multi-layered feature debuts from Africa: Eyimofe (Nigeria) and You Will Die at Twenty, Sudan's first Oscar entry. Dartmouth Profs. Ayo Coly, Jesse Weaver Shipley, and Dartmouth Alum Junaid Yakubu ('17), filmmaker based in Ghana, will react to these films in their radically diverse contexts of Nigerian and Sudanese cinema, lending insight for WRIF audiences into the significance of these ground-breaking films and their makers. An interactive audience discussion will explore current trends in African cinema while questioning the category and encouraging reflection on how we experience international cinema.
