In the Eastern Arc Mountains of Tanzania live chameleons found nowhere else on Earth. Strange, colourful creatures surrounded by generations of myths and superstitions. Stories that say they bring curses, but also sometimes fortune.

After more than a century of colonial-era logging that stripped these cloud forests, the rains begin to change and crops start to fail. In the middle of this uncertainty, a young girl named Anna asks her mother a simple question: “If we were able to destroy nature, why can’t we repair it?”

That question slowly spreads through the village. Farmers start planting trees. Elders share old knowledge. And the forest begins to return. Guiding us through the story is a sharp-tongued old chameleon who speaks in riddles, wisdom, and traditional African proverbs, the kind of storyteller who has seen everything and isn’t afraid to comment on it. Made by a fully Tanzanian team, the film bends the genres between character-driven documentary and natural history storytelling.
