Yuba Salmon Dance is a captivating short film that follows the incredible journey of Chinook salmon as they return to the Yuba River to spawn. The film captures the resilience and determination of these majestic fish who have navigated obstacles, both natural and man-made, to reach the place of their birth. Through breathtaking drone and underwater footage, we get an intimate and up-close-up look at the spawning grounds. This is the final dance for these fish as they select a mate, preform the spawning rituals, and lay their eggs and milk. After the dance is complete the Salmon will die and give their bodies and nutrients back to the river ecosystem. Salmon are one of the most giving species on earth and the greatest purveyor of ocean nutrients to the inland environment. The Wolf Creek Anthem Project was a community endeavor made possible by a grant awarded by the Upstate California Creative Corp. The Wolf Creek Community Alliance, along with accomplished composer Alexis Alrich, brought to Nevada County an orchestral suite consisting of ten pieces of classical music, all with the aim of bringing attention and awareness to the Wolf Creek watershed. Wolf Creek is a vital part of the natural ecosystem, flowing from Banner Mountain through Grass Valley, and has been historically impacted by mining activity and human intervention. The suite was made public with two special performances, during which the community was invited to participate. The Wolf Creek Anthem

A community comes together to support their local watershed through music.

The San Juan Ridge Community in the Sierra Foothills has survived countless threats during its 50-year history including mining, logging and arson. Established by artists and ecologists in the 1970’s this thriving group now faces their most monumental challenge to date – wildfire and drought caused by climate change.For seventeen years hundreds of volunteers stitched the stories of their struggles and celebrations into 12 tapestry panels that total 83 feet. A Radical Thread is a feature documentary film that chronicles the community’s ethos of collectivism, play and sustainability as visualized in the making of the tapestry, and explores how the elders pass their values to the next generations who are confronting the threat of wildfire through their newest cooperative endeavor, Force of Nature Forestry.​IN ATTENDANCE: <a href="https://wildandscenicfilmfestival.org/producer-director-editor-jeanne-c-finley/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Jeanne C.
