A Vision of Here is about the inception and creation of a large-scale, completely original mural spanning the entire auditorium of the Nevada Theatre in Nevada City. Artist Sarah Coleman describes her and her team’s process of making the mural entitled “Drop by Drop, A River is Formed,” which whole-heartedly celebrates our community.

Sonora is a sonically driven film that explores how the senses are used to connect with the environment around us. Featuring Juan Pablo Culasso, a renowned sightless birder that resides in Colombia, the film observes the relationship between sound and nature and the changing soundscapes of one of the most biodiverse countries in the world.

Sonora immerses its viewers in the auditory and tactile world of a sightless man through the remote nature preserves of Colombia.

What is light? When you wake up every morning, open your curtains, and see that the day’s light has come again, it’s no big deal. For nature, however, it’s an important clue in controlling biological and physiological changes in life forms. Light controls plants’ growth and flowering hormones; it’s also linked to people's emotions, often causing irritability for no apparent reason. Other times it’s about the oversaturation of light and the dissonant, artificial light ubiquitous in modern life. Shot from a photographer’s point of view, the film intuitively seeks good light while also examining light’s existence from agricultural and cosmic perspectives.

From Light and Dust

This composite film experiment combines documentary, dance, and environmental theater. In addition to Lin Cheng-hsiu’s philosophical musings on the relationship between humans and light, it also touches on a choreographer’s interpretations of light.

In the late 1960’s Bernie Krause was a prolific composer &amp; a foley artist who pioneered synthesizers and worked with industry giants such as Francis Ford Coppola, the Doors, and the Rolling Stones, but after one chance encounter with the sounds of the wilderness, he chose to change his career path in life, setting out to gather wild field recordings to help battle the climate crisis using acoustic information. Over half a century later, his vast archive of captured soundscapes reflects dire habitat devastation in the world, yet also yields urgent stories about the need for immediate change.

Bernie Krause, the legendary pioneer of Acoustic Ecology, takes us on an immersive journey to understand the roadmap that natural soundscapes can offer for overcoming the climate crisis.
