Thank you for viewing our shorts program, Waves of Memory, which brings together short films recalling the past and informing the present.

From my room in Paris, in exile, after 7 years far from home in Syria, far from my father who remains alone, with the ghosts of the past and the lost future – as he always tells me – I started recording our telephone conversations over the Internet. This film is a personal investigation into the Syrian experience and the relationship between exile and homeland, between my father and me, the stranger abroad and the stranger within. All that brings us together is a jerky sound through which we try to be together.
