In this shorts program, we are introduced to some complicated protagonists you just can’t help but root for. In these all-too-human dramedies, self-awareness proves both a blessing and a curse. Runtime is approximately 51 minutes.

A married Arab immigrant in America ventures into online dating, only to confront unexpected truths about his marriage and himself during an awkward and revealing date.


About the Filmmaker:

A Bahraini-Iraqi filmmaker born and raised in Dubai, Zaid Sater has worked in various parts of film, including development, production, and script analysis. As a Development Intern at Rideback Rise (Founded by Chairman of Film at Netflix, Dan Lin), Sater provided script coverage for books and screenplays, evaluate narrative structure and character development, and support event planning for industry workshops, including mock writers' rooms and the Rise for Comedy Show. He is also the Founder & Creative Director of Obscura Films, a production company dedicated to supporting diasporic filmmakers and artists. Their mission is to bridge Middle Eastern and Western audiences through impactful storytelling. Currently, his short film Mixed Signals is in the festival circuit and premiered at the Academy Award-qualifying Chicago International Film Festival's student showcase- The CineYouth Festival.
