After spotting what they believe is a UFO outside their window, a middle-aged Pakistani couple contemplates alien life and searches for answers during lockdown.

Director’s Statement: Khaula Malik

In early 2020, I received a text from my father. It was a picture of the sky, and he had drawn a circle around a tiny speck. The caption said, "This is the UFO." When lockdown happened, I went down to Virginia and stayed with them and saw the UFO for the first time.

I was charmed by my parent's interest in finding answers, but also their willingness to think about alien life and a world beyond ours. I started filming on an iPhone and never imagined the footage would turn into a film, but it did, and I'm grateful for it. Rarely are people like my parents depicted in cinema as something beyond their "immigrant identities" and even rarer as "UFO enthusiasts." I hope this film can help broaden our perspectives on how dynamic and quirky people can be when given the space to just be themselves.
