For the Stripes is a film that chronicles the tale of the residents of Ranthambore and their intricate relationship with the tigers of the Ranthambore National Park. The 28-minute-long documentary explores the nuances of our relations with wildlife, through the essence of harmony, balance and coexistence between humanity and wildlife. The various elements form a unique unison, portraying a hopeful scene of synergy and its impact on our cultures. The narrative raises several unconventional questions about the way we interact with the non-human life around us and captures the intertwined universe of wildlife, humankind, history and art.

In the woods of Ranthambore - where art, history, wildlife and mankind coexist - a deaf and mute artist expresses his love for tigers in his paintings as the struggle between humans and tigers becomes tense.

JURY SPECIAL MENTION : Red Earth Award A film by Blue Ventures. Against a backdrop of extreme poverty, personal loss and a marine environment changing beyond her control, Kokoly lives on a knife edge. Filmed over four months, Kokoly follows the daily life of a traditional Vezo fisherwoman in southwest Madagascar, giving an insight into her life experiences and the challenges of relying on marine resources for survival in a changing world.

As a young group of nature enthusiasts and photographers, we regularly roamed these less explored areas on Grasslands in search of birds and mammals. A chance spotting of a pack of Indian Wolves ( Canis lupus) in 2009, paved the way for this initiative. We wanted to know more about this elusive grassland predator Indian Wolf (Canis lupus) which is a Schedule 1 Species under Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. Over the course of the next decade, we scourged these grasslands for all signs of life and interacted extensively with the Dhangar ( Nomadic Tribe) communities to know more about these grasslands. What we found was simply staggering. Over these mostly unprotected lands, lay hidden a virtual treasure trove of Wild Wonders. There are more than 350 species of Birds &amp; 25+ species of Mammals in the grasslands of Maharashtra, India. We felt it was a story that needed to be told. This film was created by us with the sole aim of creating awareness about this astonishing wildlife diversity that thrives just 30 minutes away from one of India's largest city of Pune, Maharashtra, India and also the various threats that endanger this fragile wonderland.

Immuto (Change) features members of indigenous and local communities and other activists from different parts of the globe voicing their concerns and describing their diverse efforts to adapt to changes, conserve territories, reform laws, and keep carbon in the ground. Every participant in Immuto comes forward as an agent of change in their respective context. More than isolated stakeholders, they powerfully reach out to viewers to assert the need for recognition and reciprocity, prevailing upon us -- in the words of one contributor ‚Äì to find a way to walk side by side so that together we can find a way to benefit the whole world.Collaboration with our partners in Vanuatu prompted the production of this video and the 2019 Island Reach expedition to gather stories of climate disruption, adaptation, and activism. As with many communities across the world, conditions and threats in villages across the Vanuatu archipelago are giving rise to frustration, fear, and anger, fueled by the social inequities that define our global crisis. After witnessing the advancing threats and impacts of the climate crisis on local Ni-Vanuatu communities, we were driven to pitch ourselves into the charged field of trying to represent climate injustices through video storytelling in order to help bring about a paradigm shift.

The film tracks the making of the ceremonial log drum from techniques involved in cutting and shaping the log, to carrying the log drum over many days to its final home in the Morung. The journey from forest to village, to final resting place in the Morung, abounds in rituals and traditional-style celebrations, beautifully captured on screen by the Green Hub team.

Until recent years, the Santhali tribe of India did not have their own written language. Their stories and myths were preserved and passed on verbally through the generations. Each narration has a different form, much like the rocks of a nearby hill that come in various hues.

“Did You Do It?” is my diploma film, made as a part of the Creative Documentary Course at SACAC, New Delhi. My film is a story about the locality that my family and I moved to last year. This locality on the fringes of the capital of India is called Crossings Republik in the district of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. It isn't clearly urban nor rural. Its somewhere in the middle and always seems to be in a flux. In my daily travels to Delhi, its landscape comprising of farms, high-rises, villages, factories, a very polluted Hindon river slowly imprinted itself on my mind till there came a day when its unusualness made itself so obviously apparent to me- as if I had been asleep all this while. One long look at the everyday revealed it's horrors to me. It felt like pulling all stops - as if I were watching some theatrical performance that had come to a sudden halt which compelled me to look at it's behind the scenes. This jolt made me see the interconnections of the air I breathe, the water I drink and use, the food I eat, where does it come from, where does the water to grow this food come from, where does the garbage I throw go and where does it end up? How is my everyday reality connected to the larger reality around me? The okra that my mother chops in the kitchen for lunch, it's waste is thrown in the dustbin which then gets thrown down a garbage chute, which ends up in many mounds of garbage collected in a room in the basement of a highrise which then gets taken to a slum by garbage pickers and is sorted and segregated there and so on. In making these associations and while researching for the film, I came across an article in a labour rights newspaper called Faridabad Mazdoor Samachar. The article spoke of how our attitudes towards food and waste are similar and how our bodies become the vanishing points for all these different wastes and toxins. In my film I try to explore the environmental, social and personal costs of unsustainable rapid urbanisation. How a crisis in the environment, a crisis in my surroundings translates into a crisis within me. The film is called "Did you do it?" after the did you do it bird- also known as the red wattled lapwing. I used to hear the bird's cries often while shooting as if it were asking me who is accountable for all this mess- is it you, me, them- the authorities or all of us?
