Last year, our shorts programs were themed after movie titles, but since the pandemic began, our lives have revolved around the television set as the source for movies. This year’s short film programs are named after famous television shows, more specifically reality tv shows and game shows, since the last year’s news cycle has felt like one big dramatic and suspenseful reality tv show.

A Druze princess from Syria who became a famous singer in Egypt and a spy during WW2, Amal al-Atrash (known by her stage name Asmahan) reinvented herself many times and survived scandals, suicides, and assassination attempts until her car mysteriously crashed into the Nile River.
