Marking the seventh year of the war in Yemen, 7 x 7 // 7 Artists, 7 Years is a program of short films by seven Yemeni filmmakers, that collectively push back against binary portrayals of Yemenis as victims and/or villains, and instead provide an expansive view on how Yemenis present themselves, on their own terms.
The program starts on March 19th at 7pm EST with the live stream premiering two short experimental films by Yemeni-Bosnian-U.S. multi-media artist, Alia Ali (Conflict is More Profitable Than Peace and Mahjar) followed by a dialogue + Q&A with Alia, hosted by AANM Film Curator Dave Serio. Synopsis "The Last Resort"
"The Last Resort" talks about the human suffering of citizens due to the closure of the Sanaa International airport, hindering freedom of movement - one of the most important human rights, which the constitution respects in many countries. This right is not limited to internal movement within the borders of the State but also guarantees movement between international states. The loss of citizens to their most basic democratic rights to live - one of the most prominent issues discussed in the film -- is a clear message to those concerned to open the outlets and facilitate roads to citizens.
اللجوء الأخير : فيلم وثائقي روائي ، يستعرض في " 10 دقائق " المعاناة الإنسانية للمواطنين في ظل إغلاق مطار العاصمة صنعاء ، حيث تعتبر حرية التنقل و الحركة واحده من أهم حقوق الإنسان ؛ التي يحترمها الدستور في العديد من الدول . ولا يقتصر هذا الحق على التنقل الداخلي في حدود الدولة و لكن يضمن التنقل فيما بين الدول . ويعد فقدان المواطنين لأبسط حقوقهم الديمقراطية في العيش ؛ واحدة من أبرز القضايا التي ُيناقشها الفيلم ، كرسالة واضحة للمعنين لفتح المنافذ و
