MEET THE FILMMAKER: CANDICE ONYEAMA
Candice is an award-winning Nigerian-British screenwriter and filmmaker. Her shorts have screened on television and at international festivals around the world. Her most recent BFI Network supported film BORN AGAIN was the winner of Shooting People’s New Shoots with acclaimed director Sarah Gavron praising it as ‘a beautifully directed film’. Her debut short film HUSH was featured in Afro Punk in 2017 and was best screenplay winner at the Academy Award qualifying Reel Sisters Film Festival that year as well as the best short film winner for the 2017 edition of the BIFA and Bafta qualifying British Urban Film Festival.
Candice has been commissioned to write films for organizations including Into Film and Orchid Cancer Charity - with her latest film for the charity 'Uncle Mike' winning several awards .
Candice was selected for the 2021 Bafta crew professional network programme. She is the founder of Genesis Child Films, a production company with a focus on great stories driven by Women of African descent. She is currently developing her debut feature ANOTHER I . She is represented by Casarotto Ramsay.
