Echos of the Ice

In Echoes of the Ice, Inuk filmmaker & Indigenous Geographic Co-founder Crystal Martin embarks on a journey to Iqaluit during late spring to delve into contemporary Inuit life and the profound impacts of climate change. From sharing a traditional meal with family to traveling with Inuit hunters to the iconic floe edge—a hub for traditional hunting and community connection—Crystal experiences firsthand the challenges and resilience of Arctic life. As hunters share their deep knowledge of the land and sea, Crystal joins in a moment of cultural exchange through throat singing, embodying themes of adaptation and cultural survival. Back in Iqaluit, she explores the town's vibrant blend of tradition and modernity, meeting elders and youth who reveal how climate change affects every aspect of their lives. Through these powerful stories, Echoes of the Ice celebrates the strength and spirit of a

community navigating an uncertain future.
