FURTHEST FROM (Winner - Best Student Short) In 1999, Novato, California, an 8-year-old girl named Jessie is enjoying what little time she has left with her best friend, Lucas. The two of them have difficulty conveying it, but they’re both aware as to what is about to happen. The trailer park they live in will be closed, and the whole community will be forced to evacuate, as a result of the MTBE water contamination. For Jessie, this means facing an unwanted change and learning to say goodbye to that which tethers her to her little pink trailer. After graduating from Hanyang University in Seoul with a BA degree in Film and Theater, he moved to Los Angeles and earned his MFA degree in Directing from the prestigious American Film Institute (AFI), where he attended as the only Korean fellow of his year.&nbsp;Derived from his own personal experiences, Kyung’s work seeks to capture the delicate emotional lines of characters who face unwanted changes in their lives.

A 2020 graduate of USC’s film and television production program, Tiffany has worked extensively across both live action and animation, as well as virtual reality. Recently, a short film that she wrote was selected as a semifinalist for the 2020 Student Academy Awards. Through her films, Tiffany aims to present emotionally honest and unconventional perspectives on the experience of growing up.&nbsp;

ADELINE, THE GREAT A woke boarding school student questions her commitment to activism when she finds herself with no friends, countless enemies and facing some very serious accusations that threaten to get her expelled. Director's Bio:<img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/f429e861b2227654dc6165079e76b5e4.jpg" width="150" style="display: inline; float: right; margin: 0px 0px 1em 1em;">Jessica Mendez Siqueiros is a Mexican-American writer/director &amp; actress seeking to normalize complex &amp; authentic narratives about the Southwest Mexican-American community through film.&nbsp;Her filmmaking style is highly cinematic and composed, described by Remezcla as "reclaiming a vision of storytelling often only associated with white creators".

A woke boarding school student questions her commitment to activism.

JOE &amp; THE SHAWL Joe Potay, an adorable tow truck driver really digs Kelli, a fellow North Carolinian, when he meets her as he changes her dead car battery. But Joe’s interest takes a sharp right turn when he learns that Kelli is a Muslim. Kelli finds herself stuck in Joe's tow truck cab as he reveals his ultra-conservative white nationalist ideas. Joe informs Kelli that she’s damned to hell, so Kelli insinuates she’s left him something special in his truck. Director's Bio:<img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/4ee3857feeeac6ba02db58742e895283.jpg" width="150" style="display: inline; float: right; margin: 0px 0px 1em 1em;">Nicole Ballivian is a Sundance Screenwriter Fellow and director. Nicole wrote and directed DRIVING TO ZIGZIGLAND, a Palestinian-American comedy feature that had over 100 festival screenings and won international awards. Nicole’s production background includes work for Warner Bros, Universal Pictures and in independent film.

He received degrees in Philosophy and Screenwriting from Loyola Marymount University. His 2017 narrative short THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS was featured on Vimeo Staff Picks. To date, it has over 700,000 views. In 2018 he wrote and directed the first promotional film for Leonardo DiCaprio’s environmental and social justice foundation. Alexander lives in Los Angeles and works directing narratives, commercials, and music videos.

THE MERMAID'S JOURNEY A film about how a perfect day at the beach spent between an immigrant mother and her daughter can suddenly turn for the worse when they are pulled over on their way home. Director's Bio:<img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/813a256104a36039d699bb51ff6ce151.jpg" width="150" style="display: inline; float: right; margin: 0px 0px 1em 1em;">Alexandra Torterotot is a French filmmaker based in NYC. She began her career in movie production as an intern on Spike Lee films while she studied at School of Visual Arts. After obtaining her B.F.A in Film, she decided to pursue a career in script supervising. In 2011, she directed AU FIL DU BANC. The film won the best short film award at the Warsaw Jewish Film Festival and was selected in dozens of festivals around the world. It also aired on French national television France 3 and Switzerland RTS 2.
