BEKOJI 100


Bekoji 100 explores the stories of Desta and Zabu, two adolescent female runners from Bekoji, Ethiopia who are supported by the Girls Gotta Run Foundation (GGRF). As they embark on completing the first-ever 100 mile, ultra relay race across Ethiopia alongside international runners and their GGRF teammates, they share their athletic ambitions and the trials they face as young women in their society.


Directors' Bio:

Julia Hanlon and Alistair Wilson are passionate about storytelling. Alistair is a documentary film director and producer whose films have won awards at the Ivy Film Festival and Virginia Film Festival. He is the co-founder of Canopy Films, a commercial and documentary production company. Julia is the host of The Running On Om Podcast, a top rated Health podcast on iTunes with over 220 interviews with women who have committed their lives to endurance sports and the outdoors and BEKOJI 100 is her first foray into film. Julia and Alistair met in high school and reconnected in 2017 to bring this film to life.
