With this auspicious birthday, she starts seeing the spirits that have been haunting her brother and father for years. She has worked extensively as a 1st Assistant Director on projects such as&nbsp;Random Acts of Flyness (HBO),&nbsp;The Assistant,&nbsp;and The Fits.&nbsp;Inheritance is her first short film as both writer and director.

A Black family strive to shield their rural Vermont home from the gaze of the spirits that surround it.

Lou, a queer Latina whose suppressed sexuality manifests as a magical being who’s sometimes a person and sometimes a cat, comes out to her boyfriend Sam mid-orgasm. Once that CAT is out of the bag, there’s nothing she can do to get it back in, and after a bewildering, wild fight, Sam leaves, taking the cat with him as a sort of hostage. After a few months apart, they meet at their favorite spot at Brighton Beach to play through an old ritual in exchange for the cat, and take a second crack at telling (and hearing) the truth. She is interested in the process of capturing and recapturing still and moving images, by utilizing outdated technology and unorthodox modes of transferring analogue images into digital formats. She is also a co-founder of Salty Bitch Productions, a femme film collective dedicated to telling stories by and about femme identifying folks. She strives to create radical visibility and opportunities in front of and behind the camera.

Taylor in 2014 in pursuit of songwriting and Savannah in 2015 in pursuit of filmmaking. The two met in 2016 as Savannah was pursuing her MFA at New York Film Academy and Taylor was in spending night after night at open mics. Savannah converted Taylor from songwriter (with too much backstory to her songs) to screenwriter. They began their collaboration on Savannah’s thesis short film Blue Christmas (an official selection of LA Shorts and Portland Comedy Film Festival). Their mission is normalizing LGBTQ+ representation through absurd characterization and violence. Zombie Walk

In and amongst the confusion created by the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, 8 year-old Jackie believes she is turning into a vampire. As her suspicion is reinforced by her parents’ bewildering behavior, the imaginative girl creates her own plan to survive the confinement. About the Director:<img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/cc8d1112f79eac01e5225f5e93721fb1.jpg" width="208" style="display: inline; margin: 0px 0px 1em 1em; float: right;">Sofia Garza-Barba is a Mexican born genre-bending writer and director based in LA. Her work is often described as fantastic, whimsical, and highly art driven. She’s directed music videos for bands like Kinky and Natalia Lafourcade, and worked with clients like Nickelodeon, CryptTV and Sony Music. Her films have been presented on reputable festivals like CIFF, Tribeca (Nespresso Talents), LAShorts, SANFIC and Festival de Cannes (Shortfilm Corner). She’s a 2018 Ryan Murphy’s Half Initiative mentee, a 2019 Fellow Director of the DGA’s Commercial Directors Diversity Program, and a 2021 SANFIC-Morbido Lab participant and winner. She’s currently in development for her first feature.
