His second short film “Baran” had its world premiere at the Sao Paulo Film Festival. Hasan Serin received Best Short Film Award at the Boston Turkish Festival’s Documentary and Short Film Competition in 2014.

As part of the Erasmus exchange program, she studied European Media Studies at the University of Potsdam for one semester. In 2019 she graduated from Master's program in Art and Media at the University of the Arts in Berlin. During her studies, she worked for two years as a student assistant at the Film Institute of the Berlin University of the Arts. In 2018, the video installation "Wasps Nest", a recently produced piece from her project "Landscape of a Memory", was shown within the exhibition Blind Area at the art fair TÜYAP. Her short film "The Barn," which she directed, was screened at the 13th Akbank Short Film Festival, the 69th Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner, and other international film festivals. Her latest short film, "Yankı / Echo", which she co-wrote and co-directed with Sezin Ertek, continues its festival journey.&nbsp;Sezin ERTEK&nbsp;Sezin Ertek received her degree on film and television from Bilgi University in 2013. Between 2008 and 2009, she worked as an actress in Bilgi Sahnesi Theater Team and gained experience as an assistant director in many commercial productions during her studies, especially with Kala Film company. During her studies in the Scenario Master's program at Bilgi University, she worked as a student assistant in the screenwriting courses of the Film and Television Department of Istanbul Bilgi University. She worked with FerideÇiçekoğlu and ZS Film Production on various scripts for television series. She participated in the script team of "The Day of My Destiny" (STAR TV, 2014) and "Dreams and Hope" (FOX, 2014). In 2016, the short film "The Barn," which she co-wrote with Hazal Kara, and short film “Tail” which she directed were screened at various film festivals. “Yankı/Echo” has just started the festival adventure. In February 2021, she graduated from the Berlin University of the Arts as an art-and-media master student. She is preparing for her first feature film under the supervision of the famous director Thomas Arslan, which she will again co-direct with Hazal Kara.&nbsp;

He teaches film and video production courses as an assistant professor at University of Connecticut. He actively continues writing, directing and producing his films. His previous short film “Alexander at the End of the World” is premiered at 42nd Montreal World Film Festival’s World Competition-Short Films section after being shortlisted at Berlinale, Cannes Director’s Fortnight, Locarno and TIFF. It has also been selected to 50th Nashville Film Festival. He was a part of the 2017 cohort of the Reykjavik International Film Festival Talent Lab with the developing cut of the film. His latest feature film script “Black Hole” has received special invitation from Sundance Film Festival Sloan Grant.

We are archiving as if ecological collapse could be staved off through some digital Noah’s Ark of beasts and objects. Our Ark is an essay film on our efforts to create a virtual replica of the real world. He worked at the MIT Open Documentary Lab focusing on VR research. He curated and produced the new media sections of !f Istanbul and Camden Film Festival. Among his work are the first Turkish film screened at SxSW, ZAYIAT (2013); VR project created with Çağrı Hakan Zaman and Nil Tuzcu, that told the story of Istanbul Pogrom, a government-initiated organized attack on the minorities of Istanbul on September 6-7, 1955, called September 1955 (2016); the documentary If Only There Were Peace (2017),&nbsp;co-directed with Carmine Grimaldi; FLOODPLAIN (2018) which was inspired by the world portrayed in Emre Yeksan’s Yuva; the roadtrip/music documentary Anatolian Trip (2018) co-directed with Can Eskinazi; and PHASES OF MATTER (2020) which made its world premiere in January at the Rotterdam Film Festival.Deniz Tortum’s documentary Phases of Matter was screened at the 20th Boston Turkish Film Festival in 2021. Kathryn HAMILTON <img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/bcb99376f6065bcdc66712de60afe54f.jpg" style="display: inline; float: left; margin: 0px 1em 1em 0px;" width="150">Kathryn Hamilton is a theater director based in New York and Istanbul. She is the founder of Sister Sylvester, a performance group. Recent productions include Three Rooms, a live-skype documentary which premiered at Shubbak Festival in London, and has toured Europe and US, and which critiques technologies promising ‘presence’ and ‘mobility’ in the context of the crisis over refugees; The Fall a performance essay at The Public Theater for Under The Radar, currently touring US universities; Other work has been performed at The Park Avenue Armory, NYC; Bozar, Brussels; Arcola, London. Her work has been reviewed by New York Times, New Yorker, Time Out, Village Voice, American Theater Magazine, Performance Art Journal. She has written about VR ethics for New Inquiry, recently re-published in their ‘Classics’ issue. She holds a B.A from Cambridge University, and an M.F.A from Columbia University, and is a 2019 Yale University Poynter Fellow.

The film chronicles the last 12 hours in the life of a patriarch that cannot have any physical contact with his family due to COVID-19 fears and restrictions.The conflict reveals the secrets and unspoken issues amongst his estranged children, who must overcome their own prejudices to fulfill their father’s dying wishes. An unexpected connection between a 9-year-old girl with the dying patriarch catalyzes confrontations and resolutions for the family. He then moved into writing short scripts and comedy sketches for British television. He studied film and video production at UCLA and specialized in editing at NYU’s Tisch film school. After working as an editor for several years on TV shows, films and commercials, Emre moved on to directing music videos and short films. Post-9/11, he created five hour-long documentaries about Afghanistan and Pakistan. Emre went on to conceive ‘Beyond the Wire’ which was part of the Sundance ScreenWriters Lab and is currently being produced by award-winning filmmakers Cherein Dabas and Rick Rosenthal. Emre also wrote and directed the Feature drama ‘East of West’ which tells the true story of an Iraqi refugee’s escape to Europe during the Iraq War. Currently, he is the lead writer and producer on several genre-spanning series and feature projects for cinema and SVOD platforms through his London-based company, After Thought Media. His approach to immersive storytelling has also led him into developing platforms for audience-driven storytelling through his company Imirzive, which focuses on community building through co-creation between writers and their audiences. His more recent projects, the Sci-Fi thriller ‘The Printer’ and ‘12 Hours’ are a natural extension of his multi-genre approach to exploring complex social issues in the world.
