Ain’t no stoppin’ the cancer of big business in this David and Goliath tale.
Mossville, Louisiana was once a thriving community founded by formerly enslaved and free people of color, and an economically flourishing safe haven for generations of African American families. Today, it’s a breeding ground for petrochemical plants and their toxic black clouds. Many residents are forced from their homes. Those that stay suffer from prolonged exposure to contamination and pollution. Amid all this stands one man who refuses to abandon his family’s land.

At Crested Butte Film Festival we believe that film can change lives. Every year we strive to create opportunities for participants to learn and have the opportunity to act during the festival. To accompany our panel “An Unusual Route: Dialogues Around Systemic Representations” and the films exploring race in America, we’ve developed a list of resources to support your journey toward anti-racism. This is not comprehensive by any means, but we hope this helps.
