JACOB'S LADDER

The Machiguenga tribe of Peru prizes a rare plant known as toé for its ability to create intense, lucid dreams. Made entirely on location in the Amazon jungle under the guidance of Werner Herzog, JACOB'S LADDER invites you to cross over from the black and white waking world into this phantasmagorical realm.

Director Bio

"Born in Thunder Bay, Canada and raised on the Isle of Man, Rupert’s desire to creatively realise ideas and make emotional connections has taken him all over the world.

In recent years he's documented shaman performances in Vietnam; done ride alongs with homicide detectives in Southern States; worked his way into secretive Amish communities; battled snow squalls in Orkney; and been down a waterslide with Jeff Goldblum.

In 2018, he was selected to join Director Werner Herzog in a remote part of the Peruvian Amazon rainforest for a filmmaking expedition - under his guidance he directed, shot, and edited Jacob’s Ladder."
