In this fascinating, narrative dance piece, a young boy creates a loving friendship with a tree and her saplings, but as the boy ages, he follows his family lineage and becomes a logger.


Director Kelly Ashton Todd will be in-person for the September 25 screening at The Center


Kelly Ashton Todd lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She is a native of Houston, TX, where she began her training in classical ballet at Festival Ballet and contemporary dance at Metropolitan Dance Company. Continuing her education, she received a BFA in Modern Dance from Texas Christian University and a Double Minor in Biology and Environmental Science.


Todd’s films have been showcased nationally and internationally through festivals, galleries, conferences, and performance venues. Todd has taken part in residencies through Arts on Site, Human Impacts Institute, and Keshet Maker’s Space. She has been awarded the Brooklyn Arts Council Grant, Puffin Foundation Grant, Walmart E-commerce, LEIMAY Fellowship, NYFA Fellowship in Choreography, and the Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship Finalist in Film and New Media.


Her environmental dance film series, 'Under Review', has won awards for New Vision, Most Inspirational Film, Best Narrative, and Best Environmental Awareness Film and has attended over 12 film festivals nationally and internationally. Her environmental dance activism has been curated into installations through the Human Impacts Institution and New York Restoration Project. Todd is currently pursuing a Master’s in Sustainability Leadership from Arizona State University.
