In the remote taiga of northern Mongolia live The Dukha, one of the last groups of nomadic reindeer herders in the world. Five-year-old Tuvshuu and his sisters help with their family's herd at the summer camp where the winds are cool and there’s plenty of grass. Their way of life and knowledge of reindeer has been passed down for millennia, just as the shamanic myths surrounding their culture. With fewer than 40 Dukha families left in the world, Tuvshuu will have some big decisions ahead.
Carmen Morrow, Zach Wolf
Zach Wolf was born and raised on the Upper West Side in New York City. Growing up playing soccer with kids from numerous countries and backgrounds stoked his desire to travel and experience different cultures, communicating through the universal language of soccer. After graduating from NYU Tisch School of Film and TV, Zach pursued his love of filmmaking through editing, something he observed firsthand watching his father splice film. Zach has worked on many feature films including THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW, BLACKKKLANSMAN, and THE BIG SICK. He’s edited various shorts highlighted by the FUNNY OR DIE video series, WHAT'S NEXT FOR JACK ANTONOFF, directed by Mike Birbiglia, and the innovative VICE NEWS TONIGHT for HBO. In between feature films, Zach has made numerous short documentaries about outsider/self-taught artists, an interest he developed at a very young age.
Carmen Morrow is a graduate of Emily Carr University of Art + Design, a Vancouver native who now lives and works as a professional film and television editor in Los Angeles. Carmen’s editing credits include independent films RICH KIDS (Best Feature HBO New York Latino Film Festival, 2018), and SCRAP DOLLS (Best Live Action Short Film, Children’s Film Festival Seattle, 2017). Her interests include wildlife conservation and she is a team member of the Caribou Conservation Breeding Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to caribou recovery in Canada. Carmen is a self-taught needle felt artist and created the stop motion animation scenes in THE DUKHA, her directorial and animation debut."
