More Than I Want to Remember
One fateful night, 14-year-old Mugeni awakens to find her village drowning in fire. Her home in southeastern Congo has been destroyed by the Mai Mai militia, who have vowed to exterminate the Banyamulenge people. Torn away from her family amidst the chaos, Mugeni begins a remarkable journey across the globe, never giving up hope of finding her loved ones. Five years later, she has a miraculous reunion with her mother and sisters, who have fled to Uganda. Now a woman living in the United States, Mugeni continues to work hard to support her family and empower the Banyamulenge people.
