It’s 1979, James Do, a hitchhiker,encounters a group of hippies offering a lecture from a Guru that is visiting from India. James attends the meeting and is unimpressed by Sita the Guru. James runs into Sita while killing time at a gas station. Their small talk revitalizes his interest. In search of a free meal, James attends a pot luck hosted by the hippies. Sita makes an appearance. At the end of the night Sita and James share a cigarette and discuss her teachings. A skeptical James challenges Sita and she proceeds to give him enlightenment. In the morning, James wakes up to the hippie host, offering coffee and conspiracy theories . Turned off, James returns to the road. James runs into Sita again as she is heading to San Francisco and offers James to join her. He refuses, explaining that he should return to his obligations at home. Sita leaves. Alone on the open road a car stops. In a change of heart James decides to go to California to follow Sita.
