Director Biography

Andrea M. Catinella is an award-winning Italian director based in London, working in short and long-form narrative drama across genres. He was approached by award-winning British writer-director Vanessa Bailey to read her short script We Need to Talk to see if it resonated with him. Unusually, the cast were already attached, but Andrea very much liked the work of Tristan Gemmill, Vanessa and Lisa Graydon who were on board to play Tom, Claire and Dr Hillier. Andrea read the script and immediately agreed to direct. Andrea directed his first feature film in 2023 with the horror Island of Dolls 2, which is now available on Amazon Prime and Apple TV. 2024 became a breakout year, as Andrea directed six feature films spanning genres such as Horror, Action, and Romantic Comedy. Most of these titles are now streaming on platforms like Prime Video, Tubi, Apple TV, and Fandango. Andrea expanded his expertise by directing 5 vertical mini-series, further honing his ability to work across different formats. Andrea and Vanessa very much enjoy navigating the various facets of the director, writer, actress and producer partnership and are very proud of the fact they have been able to do this without permanently falling out or moving to opposite ends of the planet!
