TOP DRAWER SHORTS has become a festival favorite over the past several years, and we're excited to share this wonderful collection of short films virtually. We received special permission from each of these fantastic filmmakers to offer their work over the entire course of our festival - DUNGAREES, TREACLE, OUT ON THE INSIDE, 6:23AM, OLD HEN, THE NAME OF THE SON, LAST SUMMER WITH UNCLE IRA, and LUKEWARM. DUNGAREES Synopsis: What even is a male? Why can't I wear a dress? F**k it. Let's have sex and worry about it later. Transgender Blake and cisgender Cane hang out, play video games and grapple with their insecurities. This is their love story. TREACLE Synopsis: When friends Jessie and Belle go away for the weekend and drunkenly hook up, what seems like an awkward slip up to a firmly heterosexual Jessie is in fact an incredible betrayal to bisexual Belle. (Only available via virtual screenings as part of TOP DRAWER SHORTS VOL #1.)

OUT ON THE INSIDE Synopsis: At a men’s prison in Vacaville, California, about two dozen transgender women have been learning to live side-by-side with more than 2000 cisgender men. Some live in huge dormitories, some in single cells. But all of these women, who were assigned the sex of male at birth, have had to fight to express their identity under grim circumstances. THE NAME OF THE SON Synopsis: Lucho knows who he is. It’s the others who seem mixed up, inspecting him closely, addressing him as a girl and pestering him with questions. The time spent with his dad during a beach holiday draws attention to the process of transition that Lucho is experiencing. Struggling with his own insecurities, Lucho’s father tries hard to keep their close bond intact, while young Lucho attempts to come to terms with the development of a body going through puberty. THE NAME OF THE SON

OLD HEN Synopsis: Henry, a septuagenarian cross-dresser, finds his life abruptly changed when Dolores, his closest friend and long-time co-worker, dies suddenly. Henry is not only excluded from the funeral, but forced to come to terms with losing the only person who truly accepts him. (Only available via virtual screenings as part of TOP DRAWER SHORTS VOL #1.)

LAST SUMMER WITH UNCLE IRA Synopsis: In the summer of 1991, a closeted teenager's mother nudges him to reconnect with his uncle, who is dying from HIV/AIDS. His uncle wants to talk about their shared identity before time runs out, but he might not be ready to take that step… (Only available via virtual screenings. as part of TOP DRAWER SHORTS VOL #1.)
