Community organizing saved KH Supermarket from demolition two years ago, but after a long fight against gentrification, the Cambodian American market is closing its doors and starting a new chapter.

Director - Brandon Soun, Lan Nguyen

As two Southeast Asian American filmmakers who grew up in Long Beach's Cambodia Town, we see this film as a love letter to our community. Our first-hand experiences supporting KH Market and other Cambodia Town businesses experiencing displacement motivated us to create this film in collaboration with business owners and community organizers to share the story of Cambodia Town’s cultural preservation, resilience, and dreams for the future. We hope this film will be a tool to strengthen community bonds and mobilize against gentrification.
