Rock out with this year's music video selections
During the writing process of "Grounded," I wanted to tell a story about reconnecting with nature. Sometimes it's hard to let go of mundane life and just go for a walk outside because of our busy lifestyles. I added a sense of urgency to enjoy and respect nature with the line "till Uncle Sam came and took it away." Moments are fleeting.. Life is fleeting. We are made of the Earth and need to nurture it and let it nurture us. The choruses are examples of how I connect with nature and keep myself grounded and or present in the moment. I believe that staying grounded, being connected to the Earth and putting love into all things no matter what circumstances are thrown at us, is the true key to happiness.
And if you're not happy, you can dance to the song... It would probably help ;)

- NoteDirector's Note: In a world where everyone is a victim of their circumstances and excuses for our own misery are abound, "Grounded" provided an opportunity to tell a different story. I saw the lyrics telling the story of a young girl living a perfectly content life in rural Texas, enjoying rare friendships, innocent fun and what could be described as first love. Like many young people, circumstances and situations changed that was outside of our hero's control. Instead of rebelling and making the world a horrible place because of her situation, our hero connected to something bigger. She focused on life and all that offered her and not what it took away. Always being one with something greater than her, she's able to always be at ease and able to love in all circumstances even when chaos ensues. In doing so, she connects to people, places and things in a way most of us can't imagine. She lives her dreams daily and life rewarded her by reconnecting to her "first love." It was my hope to show that if we can focus on all that is wonderful in our lives, we too can have hearts full, minds at ease, grounded to our home here on earth with a level of peace that transcends understanding. --Tim Murphy Video producer and director CrackersandCucumbers Media Production
