Alba, an elderly woman living alone in her apartment, gets a call from her doctor. Instead of taking the call, Alba decides to reach out to see her loved one to reconnect to no avail. A yellow bird that she befriended keeps her company with its windowsill visits. Loosely based on the true story, ‘A Poem by Alba’ reminds us to reach out to our loved ones and the preciousness of time.

- NoteA Poem by Alba is loosely based on my former neighbor Alba who has passed away. She was a very spirited woman who lived alone and had a lot of pride. When she got sick, she reached out to her loved ones who couldn’t visit her. I channeled that yearning she had, and poured my own yearning of wanting to see my parents during Covid pandemic who live overseas. Aging and dealing with our own mortality is something that’s universal that we all have to deal with. So I wanted to infuse humanity and transport the viewers to a place of love of someone elderly we might have in our lives in hope that we stay connected and reach out to that very person who might be lonely
