20 short films are selected for the festival’s annual competition programme for animated short films from the Nordic and Baltic region. The films compete for the Golden Gunnar for best Nordic-Baltic Animated Short, Best Children’s Film, the Grand Prix and the Audience Award. The Young Audience programme consists of ten short films from Denmark, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Iceland, which will entertain the young audiences. Films accepted into Fredrikstad Animation Festival’s Short Film Competition programme are eligible to be nominated for the European Animation Awards.

Zara has never heard of a Miss Competition, she only knows Patricia says it’s a way to decide who the prettiest girl in class is. When Zara’s dad brings a bucket of moose poop things take an unexpected turn.


Bjørn Sortland has written more than 60 books and has been published in 24 countries, while co-director Nils Johan Lund has worked as a motion graphics designer and director since 2001. They have collaborated on two animated shorts before this latest film about the little zombie girl Zara.
