Johnny Bencomo, a 75-year-old cowboy musician, barely puts food on his (and his dog Lady's) table by playing gigs at the country bar in town. But a stranger hears his 18-string guitar one night, and gets in touch about an unusual private gig. A tale of the West based on Johnny's personal experience as a country musician in Tombstone, Arizona – Deep in My Heart is a Song is a heartfelt desert story about finding soul-level connection in unexpected places.

Jonathan Pickett is an Emmy-nominated creative producer / director. His work has been released through The New Yorker, GQ Magazine, New York Times, The Atlantic, ALTER, NoBudge, Short of the Week & Vimeo Staff Picks. Most recently, his short documentary Chicken Stories won the jury prize for Artistic Vision at Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, after which it was acquired by The New Yorker and selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick.
