Director Statement

SCRUMPTIOUS is my directorial debut and serves as a proof of concept for my feature project of the same name. It's the queer cannibalism comedy the world never knew it needed, combining elements of John Waters comedies, 80s and 90s erotic thrillers, and grisly exploitation horror films of the 70s. I wanted to create a vivid, candy-colored vintage world that would provide a queer version of trendy, stylish horror comedies like Ti West's X/Pearl/Maxxxine trilogy. This project is a unique, colorful, disgusting spin on the horror genre that is just familiar enough to draw in a wider audience than your typical indie slasher comedy. Iconic drag superstar Jackie Beat stars as Trish, a punk cannibal vagabond masquerading as a polite southern matriarch so she can fulfill her need to feed. The goal of this short is to set Trish up as a unique, twisted horror villain for the ages that not only deserves her own movie, but her own franchise. This is hardcore horror by queers and for queers. Help me turn this project into the camp queer classic our community needs now!
