Filmmaking is a brutal, beautiful pursuit. It tests you and breaks you, but I’ve never once considered doing anything else. Storytelling isn’t just a passion; it’s a compulsion. And through that, I’ve learned that great films don’t just work on the screen, they live in the process, in the way they’re made, in the energy of a team all moving toward the same goal.
WHERE DARKNESS DWELLS was born from that philosophy. A micro-budget feature is always a battle, but we embraced every challenge and limitation as creative fuel for the film itself. This is a story about trauma and fear, how it lingers in the dark corners of our minds, and how it shapes us in ways we don’t always understand. Horror gives us permission to explore these themes in more impactful, provocative ways than any other genre. That's a strong belief of mine and it helps push us filmmakers to not be afraid to fail and be creative.
Beyond the story which is a personal one, I had a specific creative goal: I wanted to make a film that builds, that compels you deeper with every scene, where tension tightens and curiosity pulls you forward. Too often, I find myself loving the first half of a film, only to feel the momentum slip. With Where Darkness Dwells, I wanted to craft something that only gets better as you watch.
I’m immensely proud of what we created. This film came together with a team that didn’t wait for permission. We just made the movie we wanted to see. It’s strange, it's scary, it's unique. I have no control over what happens next, and that's the greatest fear of all!
