Inner Wound Real is an animated documentary short about three BIPOC folks who self-injure, then find new ways to cope. The film has 3 different animators & styles, one for each participant. Each person finds healing through the arts, including acting, drawing, and tattooing. Animation allows us to bring the past into the present, and witness their feelings via stop-motion characters and hand-drawn illustrations.

SYDNEY is a successful doctor, a patriot, an engaged family man, and a person of color. We see the instant and inescapable fear that a simple traffic stop harbours in this visual telling of white privilege.

Society neglects the mental health of Black people. This film portrays therapy in this picture as a comfortable and beneficial avenue, to encourage my community (and other marginalized peoples) to explore the resource. The themes of family dynamics, purpose, and loss are not new but exploring them time after time from newly explored vantage points allows artists and all people to remain open to one another.
