This segment highlights and celebrates the local Vincentian film industry creatives giving them a chance to share their stories with a wider audience. This screening features the work of Sean Roache, Melanie Grant, Aiko Roudette, Javed DaSouza, Kamillo Edwards, Hayden Billingly, Indira Layne, Jamali Jack, Akley Olton, Kengy Moné, Southside Quarry, and Zurie Adams.

Roache Vincy Christmas was inspired by a Christmas video of a band recorded under the Cottle Stone hotel. The rough and colorful approach to the animation was inspired by Henri Mattise's collage artwork with one background using a reference from one of his collages title: "Forre". Roached change the original video into animation to create humor and as well as add some more Caribbean zest to the video.

In western philosophy, the expression "blue blood" refers to a person (or family) of nobility, as contrasted with the common folk. In some East-Asian countries like Taiwan, the Chinese philosophy of 鴻海藍海 (red blood blue blood) presents the dueling concepts of competition versus collaboration. Caught between these concepts, the whalers on the tiny Caribbean island of Bequia enjoy a sort of local status as royalty, where whaling runs in their veins as brave souls, who wrestle the forces of nature to provide for themselves (and the island’s) nutritional sustenance, economic sustainability, and at times international notoriety. Against the beautiful backdrop of the picture-perfect Caribbean sea, their tourism-dependent way of life and blue waters intersect with the bloody discharge of an oft-misunderstood practice that is frowned upon by opponents many miles removed from local realities, where whaling has been a tradition for over a century. Blue Blood is a two and a half minute short that authentically depicts (from first-hand experience) the somewhat controversial and conflicting balance between tranquillity and tradition, and the contrasting juxtaposition of beauty and brutality.

Experiential film on the 1979 eruption of the La Soufrière Volcano St Vincent and the Grenadines. A production of the UWI SRC under the Volcano Ready Communities Project in St. Vincent and The Grenadines. The Volcano Ready Project aims to reduce vulnerability to the multi hazard environment of the La Soufrière Volcano by enhancing community response capacity, planning and preparedness and strengthening awareness. The Volcano Ready Project is made possible through grant support from the Community Disaster Risk Reduction Fund administered by the Caribbean Development Bank and with support from our project partners NEMO, SVG Red Cross Society and Community Development Division.

Beyond The Ashes

The music video and short film celebrates the culture and memory of the indigenous Kalinago people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the tribe from which I derived. I chose to pay homage to their struggle in Yurumein and the tale of survival and resistance that kept our island from colonial exploitation for decades. Though they were banished from their sweet Yurumein and suffered an atrocious genocide, there is a resurgence of a strong and resilient Garifuna people throughout the world. We celebrate their strength, fighter spirit and resilience. Dir. statement// It was an honor to capture a representation of the culture and life of the Kalinago people. This is important as we try to recapture the lost culture of our indigenous people and archive it on film to promote national pride and preserve it for the next generation.

That is, until he learns what his bullying is causing to each person's daily life!The film looks to shed light on the effects of bullying.

In the midst of a growing climate crisis the need for sustainable farming knowledge is imperative. A new prison rehabilitation project teaches the healing potential of working with nature to incarcerated individuals in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
