Synopsis: Join Zamzoom - an enthusiastic space animal - and his sharp-as-a-whistle partner, Orbie, on an uproarious intergalactic expedition to Earth to discover the planet’s most strange and extraordinary creatures. Zamzoom’s examinations of the wildlife on planet Earth can make for some silly misconceptions. Thankfully, his partner Orbie is always nearby to set him straight - tapping into Earth’s database, Orbie knows how to spit facts. She can be a little overprotective, but it’s hard, after all, holding a whole planet’s worth of information in her circuits. Together, our odd duo team provides comical debates and science in bite-sized pieces, perfect for kids! Each episode blends exciting 2D animation with real and spectacular wildlife footage. From Canada.
Juror comments: Brilliant! I love this show. Zamzoom's Animal Adventures is a dynamic animated short film designed to educate young viewers. Sometimes learning can be intimidating, but not with Zamzoom. Viewers will get a laugh out of the quirky hosts while learning about the world at the same time.
In this episode of Zamzoom's Animal Adventures, Zamzoom and Orbie, two silly space creatures, take audiences to the savannas to learn about giraffes. The dynamic duo covers everything, from why their necks are so long to how the animals choose to battle one another.
This episode is entertaining and information is presented in a way that is engaging and holds your attention. Nothing feels rushed or overwhelming. The film has great production value and the footage of the animals is stunning. The blending of live footage with animation is blended seamlessly. The animals are shown in their natural habitat which works well for the intention of the episode. The background music is complementary to the episode. It is lighthearted and comical without being overbearing. Zamzoom and Orbie behave similarly to how young children would behave and help guide the audience through the experience. It is apparent that the creators understand their audience and have created a product that is fun to watch and filled with educational content. The camerawork for the live footage is high definition and clear.
This four-minute episode teaches audiences about why giraffes act and look the way they do. The layering of animation and live footage of the animals stand out. The animated characters are given a place in the live footage so that the combination does not feel out of place. If one were to pitch the idea of fictional space creatures landing on Earth to learn about giraffes, it would sound absurd. However, the creators succeed in such a believable world that nothing about the episode seems absurd at all.
I give Zamzoom's Animal Adventures 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 5 to 11, plus adults. It is an amazing piece of work for children's television. Reviewed by Joy P., KIDS FIRST! Juror
