Each year, Mother Tongue celebrates storytelling by and about women. From revealing documentaries, colorful animations, and moving narrative stories, this collection of shorts from North America showcases incredible stories of hope, resilience, and strength.


Cada año, El Festival de la Lengua Materna celebra las narrativas de y sobre las mujeres. Entre documentales reveladores, animaciones coloridas y emotivas historias de ficción, esta colección de cortometrajes de norteamérica presenta impactantes historias de esperanza, resiliencia y fortaleza.

In response to a call from an environmental radio festival, Lesvia Essesarte wrote this song to raise awareness around environmental stewardship and highlight the importance of speaking her language, Ombeayiüts. Shot in San Francisco del Mar, in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, Lesvia sings in a boat in a mangrove, showing the natural marine and cultural richness that her people have protected and that, for her, is essential to preserve. 


Lesvia Essesarte escribió está canción en respuesta a un llamado de un festival de radio ambiental local, para ampliar conciencia sobre el manejo medioambiental, y resaltando la importancia de hablar su lengua Ombeayiüts. Grabado en San Francisco del Mar, en el estado de Oaxaca, México, Lesiva canta desde un bote en un manglar, mostrando la riqueza marina y cultural que su pueblo ha protegido y que es esencial preservar.
