My studies focused on animation, but lately my interests include documentary filmmaking which is especially interesting because with animation it is possible to express the more subjective parts of a narrative.

Historical look at over four centuries that shaped Petty's Island, located in the Delaware River across from Camden, NJ. The story is told from the perspective of the island as witness to events which took it from wilderness to various states of development over the centuries and now is being returned to a natural state.

American shad were once so abundant in the Potomac River, that people said the river would "run silver" each spring when they returned to spawn. The anadromous fish is native to the coastal rivers of the eastern United States and is now threatened by overfishing, pollution and a loss of habitat.The people who restored American shad to the Potomoc, after years of decline, illustrate what it means to care about your corner of the world Director's Statement:"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." — Shad Run is a story of place, possibility, and determination. Sponsored by&nbsp;<a href="https://philaenvirofilmfestival2020.eventive.org/films/www.ansp.org" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University</a> Academy scientist David Keller, PhD (Head of Fisheries Department) talks about American Shad and River Herring in the Delaware River Basin. David Keller, PhD, Head of Fisheries, Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel UniversityDr. David Keller is head of the Fisheries Department and has been with the Academy since 2004. Over almost 20 years, using various gears ranging from electrofishing to seining, Dave has inventoried waters throughout the Delaware River Basin to determine the occurrence of American Shad and River Herring. He has also studied the effects of dam removal for improved passage of American Shad and evidence of spawning success. Dave recently coauthored a manuscript evaluating the dissolved oxygen requirements of American Shad and other species in the Delaware River. Dave is currently working with Academy scientists and regional partners, such as The Nature Conservancy, on a project to improve spawning and rearing habitat for American Shad and River Herring in the Delaware River Basin.&nbsp;This work involves evaluating barriers and habitats throughout the watershed to identify key sites for American Shad and River Herring restoration. On a personal note, seining for emigrating young-of-year American Shad and River Herring at night, on the Delaware River in early fall, has always been one of Dave's most memorable experiences. Additionally, he enjoys fishing recreationally for American Shad and River Herring with friends and family.
